I also think it’s frustrating when people think that anything in life is all or nothing. I say this because the reality is that is a hard mindset to work in and that if we prompt a community that is based around the idea of “you’re either healthy because you do X,Y,Z or you’re not” then we will be missing hundreds of people who think to themselves, “Wow. That’s a lot to change right off the bat.” I know that in an ‘ideal’ world it’d be nice to see people change immediately, but that’s not going to happen and if anything we need to be responsible in our abilities to help support those who want to see change even if it’s through small steps because those small steps add up. For you to feel accomplished you need those small goals, not just all or nothing because that’s how people end up giving up. I agree that it’s so important for us to be aware of the realities of what it might take us to reach our own personal goals, but small steps aren’t a bad thing.
***** ATTENTION TUMBLR WORLD, please take the time to read the message below from the STRENGTH COACH www.nopityfitness.tumblr.com *****
He (wish I knew your name) is 100% correct. He states that “ANYONE who considers themselves a healthy person or an athlete should be doing all of these things 100% of the time.” This is true. He continues on to say “ Why cap it at 30 days? So you can go back to having no discipline? So you can go back to being the person that got you to the point that you wanted to change in the first place?” True again. There shouldn’t be a cap and it should be life-long. I support this and I agree with this 100%. But I also feel that this is easier said than done for most people and sometimes people need some encouragement. My hope for you (tumblr world) is that if you can start and finish your goals by the end of 30 days that you will realize and believe that you are capable of making your goals a lifestyle. But the strength coach is right, if you go back to your old habits then you will just end up where you started. Some of you already know this from experience and some of you will need to experience this and start back up again to really get it. But again trial and error can teach us many lessons. Last, he writes “ If you want to reach a goal, and STAY at that goal, you must do it every day of your life. ” Amen!
Thank you Strength Coach for reblogging my challenge and adding your piece. You have the right mind set and I’m glad I found your page. Consider yourself followed.
1. I will do all my required cardio
2. I will do all my required lifting
3. I will drink 500ml of water everyday before arriving to work
4. I will not drink alcohol
5. I will say “No thank you” to all unplanned treats
6. I will not cheat (unless my coach gives me permission)
7. I will go to bed between 8:00-10:00PM Sunday-Thursday
8. I will make a special clean recipe 1-2 times a week
9. I will not put myself in tempting
environments (restaurants/pubs/bars)10. I will work hard everyday
Thank you everyone who has “liked” (over 1200!) or joined this challenge. It’s an amazing thing when this many “strangers” can come together to work toward a common goal and help motivate one another. Always know that you can do whatever you put your mind to but it’s going to take HARD WORK and consistency. If you’re struggling, ask for help. If you’re having a killer day, pat yourself on the back. If you need to adjust your goals day to day or week to week, do it. Just make sure to finish what you started. Let’s do this! 30 days begins now!
THIS is why I get pissed at the tumblr fitness world.
Its filled with instant gratification and “challenges” that last for a certain amount of time. ANYONE who considers themselves a healthy person or an athlete should be doing all of these things 100% of the time. Why cap it at 30 days? So you can go back to having no discipline? So you can go back to being the person that got you to the point that you wanted to change in the first place? Thats what people dont understand. You cant only workout and eat clean for a month, or a year, or 10 years. If you want to reach a goal, and STAY at that goal, you must do it every day of your life.
The whole mindset of doing something for a set period time shows that you have no desire to change your life.
